Activate.

Activism is action-oriented. The Public actively works toward the eradication of systemic oppression in our town and beyond. We also work for true healing by repairing the wrongs of our shared history. We take responsibility for the wrongs of our ancestors until everyone in our community is freed from the effects.

Speak at a WCS School Board Meeting

Our community absolutely MUST continue to show up at board meetings every. single. month. It’s vital. We must show that we're here, we’re engaged, and we’ll be here until the necessary system-wide changes are in place.

Our goal is to have 10 people sign up for comments every month for the rest of the school year. Speakers will get a maximum of 3 minutes.

You do NOT need to have kids in Williamson County Schools to speak up to your elected officials. If you live here, you have a vested interest in what's going on in our public schools.

If you would like to sign up for public comment, please email Lydia Glen at Lydiag@wcs.edu no later than noon on the day of the meeting. In your email please include your name, address, topic of conversation, and zoom account name so they can invite you in to speak.

Start off your comments with your name and address. If you have kids in WCS or FSSD, mention that and the name of the schools - this makes "your" School Board member pay extra attention if you're in their area. Be authentic, tell your own story and experience, and ask them to take action. Voice your position regarding the need for diversity/cultural training and policy changes that address racism and inequality in our schools.

We need your voice!

Demand a mascot change.

***UPDATE: As of August 2020, the mascot for Franklin High School has been changed to “The Admirals.”*** After receiving a petition of over 2,500 signatures, Franklin High put together a committee to consider a change of mascot. The committee requested to receive additional feedback and asked the community to email their thoughts to FHSmascot@wcs.edu.
